Can Organic Cotton Be Dyed?
Organic Cotton can be dyed. However, remember that the dyes are colored toxic chemicals that can at times cause allergy and are also harmful to the environment. Researches are being conducted to develop natural and non-toxic dye colors.
Some countries are also producing organically colored cotton. The color-grown cotton is available in the shades of red, green, yellow and brown. The apparels made of colored cotton are suitable for people who are prone to chemical allergies. The color-grown cotton does not fade as it is not dyed. It is said that the color of the apparel deepens with each wash.
Apart from being used in the manufacturing of apparels and other furnishing goods, organically grown cotton seed is used as animal feed. The cotton seed oil is used for cooking and baking too.
